Statement ID: CS-CVD19-17032020-1
17th March 2020
Dear Parents,
As many of you will already have heard, and further to our communication with you yesterday on the current Covid-19 pandemic, we learned today that the Ministry of Health has instructed all schools to close from Friday 20th March 2020.
We are therefore writing to notify you that Chengelo School will complete its learning program on Thursday 19th March 2020 in order to allow all pupils to be collected from 8:00am to 12.00pm on Friday 20th March 2020. Please can we ask you to make the necessary arrangements for your children to be collected promptly on Friday morning.
Please note that we have implemented strict hygiene controls at the entrance to the school so do please assist us in ensuring the continued safety of our community by complying with the required sanitisation procedures. Thank you!
As per government recommendations, if parents are subject to current self-isolation restrictions, please do not travel to the school but instead contact us directly to confirm travel arrangements for your child.
Parents of International students are also requested to contact the school directly to discuss travel arrangements for their children.
To contact the school, please use our usual phone numbers and email address during normal working hours:
Primary: Tel: +260-979-999991 Email: primary@chengeloschool.org
Secondary: Tel: +260-979-999992 Email: chengelo@chengeloschool.org
For after-hours communication you may call on +260-762-666663.
To ensure our students continue their academic studies without interruption during this period of closure, we are putting a distance learning program in place. Further information on this program will be sent out shortly.
Please can we ask you to ensure that you are signed up with our Parent Portal as this platform will serve as our primary means of communication going forward. An email containing step-by-step instructions on the simple sign-up process will be sent out later today.
If you are already registered and using the Parent Portal and smartphone app, please feel free to disregard the email. The school will issue further statements in due course as the situation develops.
Thank you as always for your support and prayers at this time.
Yours faithfully,
Andrew Cowling
School Principal
