Our Swimming Sensation is Budapest Bound

This month, the best swimmers in the world will meet in Hungary for the FINA World Aquatics Championships. Chengelo’s teen swimming sensation Asher Banda has been selected to compete in the pool at this prestigious event, providing him with an opportunity to compete against the very best swimmers, from all over the world.

For Asher, making a splash in Europe this month is a step towards realising his Olympic dream. Aside from doing well in the competition, he hopes to get a chance to explore this part of Europe.

As a young boy, our African swimming star Asher used to cry at the thought of swimming. It took the encouragement of his parents and older brother to overcome his phobia and find within himself the makings of a champion.

Asher who hails from Lilongwe in Malawi spends many, many hours in the pool. His dedication and hard work have given him this wonderful opportunity in Budapest.

The swimming action will take place between the 18-25 June in Budapest’s Duna Arena. Stay tuned and good luck Asher.
