Chengelo’s 29th Anniversary Service

Chengelo School joyfully celebrated its 29th anniversary with a Thanksgiving Service held on Sunday, 10th of September 2017.

The service was attended by the whole school and was led by North Church Elder, Mr Boniface Mambwe. Chengelo Training Farm Manager. Mr. Dave North, supported by the Staff Praise Team, led an uplifting and Spirit-filled worship session that was followed by thanksgiving poem recitals from Grade 7 students, Shalom Musonda and Natasha Mutale.

After the opening prayer by School Trustee Mr. Russell Wyatt, prayers of gratitude were given by Form 5 student Prince Changwe and Headgirl Thandiwe Mwanza. Primary Headteacher, Mr. Warren Mukuni and Head Groundsman, Mr. Moses Mpanga also offered prayers acknowledging God’s blessing and protection over the school in the years since Chengelo first opened back in 1988.

In his sermon, School Principal, Mr. Andrew Cowling, challenged everyone to pursue God’s unique purpose for their lives and in doing so live out the school motto by being a true ‘witness to the Light’ of our Lord Jesus Christ. Mr Cowling cited God’s greatest commandment in Matthew 22v37 that commands us to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul and mind.

As we look forward to the major milestone of the school’s 30th Anniversary next year, we thank God for His faithfulness to us through the years with the certain knowledge that He is indeed Emmanuel, God with us.

“Even though it is my last service, a promise for the future of Chengelo has been set, and I for one look forward to hearing the testament of God’s goodness in the next 29 years.”
Thandiwe Mwanza, Upper Six Student and Headgirl
